From time to time, casino operators must upgrade systems to ensure that games and other technological aspects of the property are in proper working order. In some cases, this results in a shutdown. For the Borgata Casino, this week marked a second need for a casino floor closure as a tech upgrade took place. The casino is integrating with MGM Resorts International, so the gaming floor had to shut down while the changes were made.
As the gaming floor was closed at the Borgata, the restaurants and additional amenities were not affected. A notice was placed on the website so that visitors traveling in would know more about the shutdown. All of the slot games, table games, and poker tables were closed. The sportsbook in-person options and the racebook were also paused.
One part of the change involves the loyalty program. Members of the M life Rewards program will be able to earn Tier Credits. These credits can be used to pay for hotel stays, dining, spa treatments, and more. Players who have online gaming accounts will find their rewards are still connected once the integration is complete.
Tier Credits, Slot Dollars, Points, and Express Comps will remain the same. Players will not need a new password for the website. The same PIN and account number will work. Promotions that are popular among players will start over in May.
At the same time, the website is also being updated. The shutdown will last 12 hours and once it's done, consumers will be able to find new offers online. A new search feature will be featured on the site to help players find more information.
The magnifying glass icon can be found at the top right of the screen and can be used to look for entertainment, dining, casino promotions, and more. A new feature known as Open Indicator will help visitors to see which restaurants, spas, or shops are open.
The online options for the Borgata will be streamlined to offer the same look and feel via desktop, laptop, or mobile device. Players can easily book a hotel room, reservation for dinner, or spa service via mobile.
For the poker room, the Borgata will see changes as well. Players will receive Express Comps in a different way than before, at least temporarily. Any Express Comps earned will not be added automatically to the rewards cards from poker games. Players in the poker room will need to speak to the shift manager to add comps at the end of a session.
For slot players, any vouchers printed before April 21 will not work. However, you can still redeem them. Just go to the main cashier to complete the steps to redeem your voucher. The process may take a few more steps, but it's only one extra step.
For fans of entertainment, some of the shows are gearing up for the summer months. The Music Box Theater will offer shows in July and August. Details for any upcoming shows can be found on the Borgata website.
