Online gambling continues to do well in New Jersey, having helped the land-based industry as well as brought additional revenues to the state. It seems that month after month, the industry continues to reach new milestones as the online gaming operators outdo themselves from the previous month. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has released the September totals, with the Golden Nugget continuing to be the top operator. Not surprisingly, the Golden Nugget has set yet another record for online earnings.
Monthly Totals
The online casino and poker sites of New Jersey earned a total of $41.1 million in September. This was a new monthly record and marks the third time in a row that the industry has hit a new monthly total. The $40 million mark has been obtained several times, with January of this year being the first time the state moved above the $30 million mark for earnings.
These totals do not include online sports betting. Put those numbers in the mix and you really have massive earnings. For online sports books, an additional $29.4 million was earned. This pushes the overall online gambling revenue total for New Jersey up to a whopping $70 million+.
For the online casino sector, just over $39 million was earned. Online poker contributed the remainder to push the earnings to just over $41.1 million. When compared to September 2018, the revenues were up close to 60%.
Golden Nugget Dominates
There is no brand that quite dominates the online gambling industry like the Golden Nugget. The brand has done quite well and continues to be the top earner in New Jersey. Month after month, they maintain the top spot and continue to break records along the way. For September, the operator brought in a whopping $15.6 million.
The Golden Nugget has maintained the top spot in the state since December 2016 and last month was the most ever earned by the brand in online gaming revenues. The September earnings were 4.39% more than August and over 68% more than September 2018.
Other Top Earners
Because the Golden Nugget is so far ahead in 1st, many of the other online gaming operators tend to take a back seat when it comes to being newsworthy. And while they are not earning as much as their number one competitor, several other operators are doing well.
Take Resorts for example. They have finished in the second place spot once again, earning $8.9 million in September. They saw a month to month increase from August and hit a new personal best for their network. They were one of only two operators who were able to report an increase in growth from the previous month.
The Borgata also did well yet again, this time earning $6.9 million across their online casino and poker gaming sites. They have yet to gain a stronghold in sports betting, but are trying their best to get in the mix as a top operator.
Surprisingly, Ocean Resort Casino saw a big increase in their earnings, both month to month and on a yearly basis. The casino still doesn’t earn much when compared to competitors, but the increase is promising. For September, they brought in just over $517,000 which was more than 39% from August and over 59% from last year.
It will be interesting to see how the remainder of the year plays out regarding overall earnings for New Jersey. The iGaming industry continues to reach record heights and is showing no signs of slowing down!
